“I had the pleasure of working with the trainer at Three Roans Equine Services, an awesome coach who helped me start cantering on my young horse. Her expertise & guidance were super helpful in achieving this milestone. I highly recommend her to anyone looking to advance their riding skills.”
“Originally I contacted Three Roans Equine about working with me & my 2 year old filly. My horse was a bit of a handful & treated me like I was something she could boss around. She is fearless & I needed a clear way to communicate with her that was comfortable & fair for both of us. Some of the advice I had been given previously seemed too heavy handed for me, & was not how I wanted to treat her.
This trainer's way was noticeably different. Even after our first session, handling my horse became so much easier. The guidance for both myself & my horse, her calmness & soft approach now makes working with any of my horses such a joy.
Through my lessons, I have learned that
"horses are like puzzles" & with help to fill in the missing pieces, I now have a common language to speak with all of my horses. We are all much happier & more confident in every aspect of our relationship.”
“I learned about Three Roans Equine Services through word of mouth late last fall. I was feeling like I’d lost the connection between my horse & myself. He had a habit of dragging me around to the most lush green grass he could find in the saddle or on the ground. I was loosing any control I had, I needed help. I reached out to Three Roans Equine Services, my horse & I had a meet and greet and arrangements were made for him to enter training.
I was worried about my horse being away from his long time pasture mates. Three Roans Equine was able to assess & identify his needs through skilled horsemanship and placed him with the perfect pasture mate.
Our month began with the trainer working with my horse through a refresher, identifying issues & creating a learning plan for him & myself.
Weekly I would receive lessons to catch me up to what he had learned. Every week I left feeling happy & confident that I was learning the skills I needed to be a good leader for my horse. I received videos and updates regularly & I was able to see all the amazing things my horse was capable of with the right training.
Now that he is home the work has not stopped with Three Roans Equine Services. We have set goals & continue to take lessons. Now that I know what my horse is capable of, the sky is the limit.”
“This is the first time in many years I have my horse at home with me & not boarded out. I assumed I was in control & he respected me. I assumed I was his leader & he would trust me to make him feel safe in new surroundings. I was wrong.
It took me 2 years to realize I was in trouble. I am not sure I recognized how much ground I had lost: He was pushy in his stall, he was scary in his field as he would come running at me & I never turned my back on him.
He would “let” me halter him, lunge him, brush him, grain him, give him hay…
but all of this occurred with me feeling unsure because he had a look that said “I will run over you”. I just knew he was not believing in me or trusting me.
It appeared to others that all was going well, because I was still riding him. However, even under saddle I could “feel” his tightness & he was starting to try & take over and I started to understand that my lack of leadership was becoming apparent in all areas.
I discussed my concerns with the trainer at Three Roans Equine Services & decided the best plan was having my horse in training.
This is when my growth as a leader for my horse became solid. The fundamentals are everything. Once my horse & I had developed the fundamentals I felt confident, calm & excited about our future relationship. My horse no longer feels the need to be reactive. He is no longer confused by me or frustrated. He is calm & eager to learn. The trainer worked with both of us & because of their incredible ability to discuss, to explain, to model and to support my desire to learn, I am feeling incredibly grateful.”
“I want to thank Three Roans Equine for the inspiring month of learning for myself & my horse. The care was exceptional with my horse’s needs being put first from his pasture location, the first class hay & their trainer being his constant from turn-out to turn-in. They spent an incredible amount of time with my horse & I. Their ability to educate & teach me the importance of groundwork fundamentals has given me the confidence to move forward as an effective leader. They read the horse’s needs & adjusted the training plan to be the best fit for us. I am excited to continue our relationship with Three Roans Equine Services as I continue my growth as a confident horsewoman.”
"I began working with Three Roans Equine in the fall of 2022 with the focus being on groundwork & fundamentals. Each training session has been built on the previous & has helped me to understand the way the horse's mind processes pressure & body language. We have worked in a variety of settings, both indoors & out, & we always finish our sessions on a high note. The learning environment created allows for both the human & the horse to work through any sticking points & have fun along the way With the guidance I have received, I have gained so much more confidence in my overall horsemanship skills & I look forward to continuing to learn from this amazing team."
"Professional all the way!"
"Three Roans Equine Services is operated by a horse trainer who has great horse intuition. After seeing the progress my wife made with Three Roans Equine Services, I decided to start with my horse & in such a short time communication with my horse has improved tremendously. I look forward to learning more."
"As a parent, I appreciate the ability of the trainer at Three Roans Equine Services to develop confidence in both young horses & young riders. I love sitting back & watching the magic happen when she is training with my teenage son & his young horse. It's incredible how much can be accomplished in each session with her when patience & impeccable timing are the priority"
"I came to the trainer at Three Roans Equine Services as a scared, low confdence & beaten down by the horse industry 16 year old, just clinging onto my love of horses by a thread. She took me under her wing, showed me the good that is out there in the industry & renewed my love for the horse. I learned so much working for the trainer there! Including how to slow down, and in doing so achieve my goals with horses much faster. She taught me how training from the ground is more important then training from the saddle & if you do it right then they already know everything they need to before you even sit on them. It doesn't have to be a rodeo! She taught me the value of just being with the horses, watching them, learning from them & playing with them. I think if I didn't have my time with her as a working student then I would be on a completely different path than I am today. Thanks to her patience, kindness & teaching ability, today, I am the manager & assistant trainer at an amazing hunter/jumper facility with the best team! Any horse (or human!) would benefit tremendously from time with the trainer at Three Roans Equine Services. She's got the magic!"
"The professionalism, experience & attention to detail is unparalleled at Three Roans Equine Services. They tend to each horse's individual needs & also take into account their unique personality. Not only was the private training facility immaculate every time I came to visit my horse but he was always very happy & content. I call Lyons Equine Services a horse training paradise! After he arrived, it didn't take long for my nervous, fidgety thoroughbred gelding to change into a relaxed & people loving horse."
"I love working with the trainer at Three Roans Equine. Visiting her private training facility always feels like a mini vacation. The peaceful setting & meticulously maintained amenities are very conducive to an excellent horsemanship experience! As a student, I really appreciate her ability to very quickly assess what the horse needs as well as what the rider needs. She is positive, direct & honest in her assessments & communicates her findings & suggestions with calm clarity. I appreciate that SO MUCH!"
